Find out the requirements necessary to pass a DOT physical examination.
You’re traveling long distances and spending hours driving every week, so we want to make sure that you are healthy before you head out onto the open road. This means that you will need to get a DOT physical before you can begin working. When you come in to see our Springfield, VA doctors here is what you can expect from your physical:

We will want to know everything about you so we can determine your overall health. This includes giving us a detailed history of any chronic illness, hospitalizations, etc. You must tell your Springfield, VA physician if you have been diagnosed with any of the following conditions:
It’s important to be as honest as possible during your evaluation. We want you to remain healthy during your travels.
The DOT Physical Exam
In order to drive a DOT vehicle you must have a qualified DOT Certified Medical Examiner at VMAC to complete your DOT physical form. We will review your history and talk to you about the medications you take regularly. During your actual physical we will check the following:
If you’ve been diagnosed with any health issues we will discuss how your history or medications could affect your work, which we will need to document. If you meet the DOT standards and do not require medical monitoring most certificates will be good for two years. Your physician in Springfield, VA will determine the length of your certification (some may only be valid for three months while others can be up to a year or more). We will also need to make note of any hearing aids or corrective lenses you will need to wear while on the job.
Whether you need a DOT physical or are dealing with the flu, VMAC, P.C. is here for all your medical needs. Call us today to schedule an appointment.
